Early Pinocchio

In 1967 I drew this version of Pinocchio. I remember doing it in a period of great happiness. It was in the middle of summer and everyday I got up at 6 in the morning and drew for a couple of hours under a grapevine in the patio, then I went to work at the studio. The drawings aren't very good but I suppose they captured something of that happiness.

Trillo & Grillo

Pages from a comic book made in collaboration with the Argentinean writer Carlos Trillo. The story is about both of us returning to our childhood looking like two old kids.

Nobody notices that.

It was drawn in the classic style of the comics of our youth and printed in old yellowish paper.
It was completed a few years ago but remains still unpublished (Don't ask me why, ask the publishers)

Type

When I was a kid in Buenos Aires I bought a manual for lettering artists. It had alphabets in different types for you to copy. The period flavour is amazing. I still marvel at the beauty of these types...Above is a small sample.

Flipbook

In case you wanted to envy me. This 1939 flipbook has almost the complete animation of the Disney's short "Donald and Pluto". It is one of my most precious treasures.

Mrs. Masham's Repose

Having Illustrated "Gulliver Travels", the publisher asked me to do "Mrs. Masham's Repose" by T.H. White, the author of "The Sword in the Stone". In this novel, a young girl finds in the garden the Lilliputians brought to England by Lemuel Gulliver. Great book!

I strongly recommend you to look for the work of the German artist Brynolf Wennerberg.

He was a very elegant and delicate watercolourist.

Parker's mood

Stills from our "work in progress" animation "Parker's Mood"..It is a short illustrating the music of Charlie Parker. The animatic was shown at several festivals with some acclaim. That makes us think: Why should we finish it?
