Hi Oscar, this reminds me of one of the best ever concerts I saw, it was the Gil Evans Orchestra in 1997 at Umbria Jazz, I was 18 and was sitting in the first row and I had the face almost inside George Adams' tenor sax bell. Since I'm thinking about it I'll put on a George Adams/Don Pullen Qt at Village Vanguard to keep me company as I wash dishes deep into the night.

ReplyDeleteSorry, Umbria Jazz 1987 not 1997.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the memory, Max...Ahhhh!!!...Who remembers now names like Don Pullen or George Adams?!!!...We live in a poorer world!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I told this story to you, there's not many that understand what it means to have the face buried into George Adams' sax.
