Oscar this is ralph bakshi ive just found your site sorry and i am stunned by your brillance in drawing --in two days you taught me more then 70 years --drawing and line are every thing we who come out of the 50s know this ---drawing on different kinds of papers is more important than animation thanks ralph
Oscar first off all every artist you love and show i love soutine being my favorite but you might have forgot one i doubt it i give you a present JOSE LUIS CUEVAS ALSO I HAVE SEEN EVERY SIGHT of yours AND SEEN ALL YOUR DRAWINGS and have put my favorites on favorites to study i am familar with all painters you are and of course pablos drwgs i find you the only artist that draws with the same grace as him and ive studied them all now im sorry to embaress you but thats how i really feel i will do some drwgs this week to see what youve taught me will show you whats what maybe regardes ralph
Yeah, of course I know very well Cuevas. I came accross his work in the early sixties, when his Kafka Metamorphosis' illustrations were first published. I read his early autobiography and he said that he prefered boxers rather to artists. Nonetheless....Amen to that! apart from Steinberg and Picasso, my greatest influence always was the Hungarian artist Lajos Szalay. A breathtaking pen artist! All the best, Ralph!
