Serie Noir






I drew these in June 2005 and they have been already posted in "okgrillo" but I feel like posting them again.
Do you have any problem with it?

    I must have missed them.
    Very beautiful and haunting. Sometimes the figures look american, sometimes european.
    It makes me want to draw in pencil again.

    Este estilo que no frecuentás muy a menudo ya me había maravillado en aquellos posts de okgrillo. Es muy bueno verlos ahoras todos juntos.

    Me parece que Límbolo acierta: coincido en una mezcla del sórdido mundo bien descripto en películas francesas de los ´50 y en algunas relacionadas con el submundo en los ´40 de Los Angeles, pero hechas más cerca en el tiempo. Me vino a la mente el horrendo e irresuelto crimen de "Black Dahlia" (Elizabeth Short) en LA, 1937, la película "Rififí" y "Chinatown" de Polansky.

    Los tres personajes del último dibujo me recordaron al gran rosarino Antonio Berni en épocas inciales.

    La frase "pendenciera" de cierre en tu post "marida" muy bien con el tema y el estilo.

    Buenas Noches, el Editor,
    We have a real 'noir' evening here in London. I have been walking the greasy-lit, rain-streaked streets thinking about these deep and lovely drawings of Oscar's.
    They do make me think, particularly, of JULES DASSIN who told these kind of stories on both sides of the Atlantic.
    Brian de Palma has recently made a dog's breakfast of the black dahlia mystery.
    I hope as many people as possible can see the documentary about JAMES ELROY which is going around just now. It's, not only, an interesting portait of the prickly Mr. Elroy, but also contains the answer to the BLACK DAHLIA mystery.

    Yo si tengo un problema, son demasiado buenos, no tienes algo malo por ahí para compensar un poco.
    Bueno, sigue posteando arte, aunque sean obras maestras, lo soportaremos. Por cierto, fué un honor tu visita a mi blog.

    Bueno...en realidad sí, iba a decirle que tengo un problema pero después consideré la posibilidad de que podría venir a visitarme el muchachito del asiento trasero del coche del dibujo de abajo y cambié de idea.
    Extraordinarios dibujos, Oscar, todos, pero el segundo me gusta especialmente porque me hace suponer que el revólver que dispara está empuñado por mi admirado Edward G. Robinson.

    Una pregunta al márgen, Oscar: ¿habrá catálogo de tu próxima exposición en Rosario?

    Creo que si, Gustavo.Algo Al'uso Nostro. Los dibujos no van a ser gran cosa pero los testimoniales de Rep, Sábat, Tute y varios mas, valdran la pena.

    When you have been walking the "greasy-lit, rain-streaked streets thinking about these deep and lovely drawings of Oscar's", here in Rosario we have a very HOT afternoon, well over 30 Celsius...

    With your description I almost felt the steps of a modern Jack the Ripper behind my chair.

    I have a little problem tryng to decipher a "dog´s breakfast", but I´ve found that is "chiefly British : a confused mess or mixture"

    oh Jesus: languages !!! sorry for this inglés...

    I´d love to see the documentary about JAMES ELROY "the prickly", and mainly to know "the answer to the BLACK DAHLIA mystery". But I doubt that, a hard place here for documentals.

    By the way, the sax player, composer & arranger Bob Belden made a CD with the name BLACK DAHLIA (Blue Note 2000). A kind of suite -inspired in the case- very interesting with strings, jazz rhythm section and very good soloists.

    I remembered Melina Mercouri with you Jules Dassin mention.

    Jules Dassin directed Rififi, Night and the City, The Naked City and my all time favourite: Thieves Highway, with Richard Conte and Valentina Cortese.
