Angel Labruna

I drew this picture of the legendary River Plate player Angel Labruna as a birthday present for my mate Elbio Gomez, who is a supporter of the rivals of my favourite club, Boca Juniors.

  2. Silvio: Este es un homenaje a Abel Ianiro, no A los gallinas. Ademas siempre me gusto la cara de Angelito (gran jugador) tenia algo de Walt Disney y de Ray Bauduc (preguntale a Sabát quien era)

  6. You drew Angelito and yesterday it was Doña Petrona.
An anecdote says that once a woman was driving her car down a road in BA's northern areas (Nuñez and Belgrano), near the rail roads, where River had its field. Some guys were kicking a ball and is crossed the road and she almost drove over it. One of them yelled at her something in the lines of: "stop driving and go wash the dishes." The man was Angel Labruna. The woman stopped her car , got off and said something kind off "Do you know who I am? I am Petrona de Gandulfo?"
....I realize the anecdote sounds better when in Spanish than when written in English but I've always I've liked it.

This anecdote is wonderful...Unfortunately not many people would be aware who Labruna or Donia Petrona where, but for the British, the equivalent would be Alf Ramsey and Fanny Craddock.
